The Asia–Europe Foundation (ASEF) invites early-career professionals from ASEM member countries to apply for the ASEF ASEM Human Rights Seminar 2026. This fully funded, three-day seminar will be held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, from 30 March to 1 April 2026. About ASEF ASEM Human Rights Seminar 2026 Indonesia

This seminar is part of the Informal ASEM Human Rights Seminar series, organised by ASEF. It is designed as a capacity-building program that brings together 25–30 early-career professionals from Asia and Europe who are active in AI deployment, evaluation, or advocacy. The program focuses on developing skills to ensure AI systems respect human rights through human-in-the-loop governance approaches.

Program Theme

The seminar is centred on “Future-Proofing AI: Building Human-in-the-Loop Governance Skills for Rights-Respecting AI.” This theme highlights the importance of integrating human rights considerations into AI governance, ensuring transparency, accountability, and respect for the rights of individuals affected by AI technologies.

The main goal is to deepen participants’ understanding of how human rights principles apply to AI governance and to develop practical skills to design and advocate for people-centred AI governance frameworks.

Eligibility Criteria

• Residence in an ASEM member country, which includes 51 countries across Asia and Europe, as well as the EU and ASEAN Secretariat
• Early-career professionals with 1–5 years of relevant experience
• Active involvement in AI deployment, evaluation, or advocacy work
• Approximately 25–30 participants will be selected
